Characterizing Mathematics Learning in Colombian Higher Distance Education

The aim of this work is to characterize the process constructing mathematical knowledge by higher education students in a distance learning course. This was done as part an algebra course within engineering degrees Colombian university. study used Transformative Sequential Design mixed methods research. analysis also determined kinds attained and its relationship social cultural context. acquired declarative, procedural, conditional knowledge, while strategies were often superficial. In context where power distant, take on passive approach despite being highly respectful towards educator. Thus, educational system has educator at center.
